How to set your receiver for different languages

[Applicable to Europe, and countries using large-dish systems—Africa/Asia, where more than one channel is available]

The First or main channel will always be in English. The Second Channel will carry 2 languages (on Left and Right sides), which may vary, depending on the time of the broadcast.

Method 1: Settings on your receiver

Most receivers have a LANGUAGE button on the remote control. Use this to select Left or Right audio sides.

If yours does not have this button, please consult your instruction manual.

For Scientific Atlanta receivers: Move to the channel containing your language. Select Menu, then Receiver Status, then User Setup. Go to TV Audio and press Select until the Left or Right channel displays. Exit and save settings. Note that only the AV /RCA outputs must be used.

Method 2:
If you are unable to turn off the language you do not require (using Method 1), remove the Audio Output plugs in turn at the back of the receiver until the desired result is achieved.

Hope Channels worldwide will carry live coverage of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's 58th General Conference, the business session which meets every five years. Over 2000 delegates from all parts of the world will gather in St. Louis, Missouri, in late June and early July for this important business meeting. Millions more Seventh-day Adventist members around the world can view the highlights each day on the various Hope Channels. By satellite, nearly four hours of programming will be broadcast and rebroadcast to mesh with prime-time viewing for audiences around the world.

Beginning on June 29 with the Spiritual Emphasis programme that features speaker Pr Randy Roberts, the Hope Channel broadcasts will continue daily through July 9 in North America on Hope Channel. With a one-day delay they will be broadcast from June 30 through July 10 elsewhere in the world on Hope Channel International, Hope Channel Europe, and the Portuguese and Spanish Hope Channels in South America.

Each evening broadcast will feature a one-hour News and Commentary segment, followed by a half hour music feature, a half hour devotional, and then the inspiring Division reports from various regions of the world church. Two divisions will be featured each evening.

North American audiences can tune in on Hope Channel each morning at 11:00 EDT (15:00-16:00 GMT) for a one-hour program featuring the morning devotional. This daily devotional will be webstreamed and archived for global viewers on www.hopetv.org.

The theme "Transformed in Christ" provides the spiritual focus of this General Conference Session. "It will be a celebration of what Christ has performed in our lives, and a reminder that we also have been called to be agents for transformation within our communities," comments Pr Jan Paulsen, president of the world Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The Adventist church is rich in musical talent, and the music featured each day on the broadcasts will showcase tremendous diversity. "It will be a wonderful spiritual and musical feast," notes Pr Ted Wilson, chairman of the GC Session Music Committee. "GC session has become much more than just a business meeting. It resembles an enormous camp meeting."

You won't want to miss the daily News and Commentary program, a one-hour special featuring highlights of the business sessions. It will include reports on elections, significant developments, and agenda items voted in the business of the day. Commentary with host Pr Mark Finley will include discussion of key issues relating to mission, evangelism, and community involvement.

Check the schedules below for broadcast times on the Hope Channels. Please pray that the Lord will bless this important assembly in the life of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
