Change of Satellite Parameters for HC International
Friday, December 21, 2007
Dear Friends,
RE: Change of satellite parameters for reception of Hope Channel International in Asia and Africa.
WHO DOES THIS ANNOUNCEMETN AFFECT?
1. You are affected by this announcement if you are watching Hope Channel in the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Central Asia or Africa and your antenna is a big dish (2.0 meter or larger) C band antenna tuned to the PAS 7 or IS 7 satellite.
2. If you have a small dish antenna in Africa, you are NOT affected by this announcement.
3. If you are watching in Australia or New Zealand on the Optus B3 satellite you are NOT affected by this announcement.
4. If you are watching Hope Channel anywhere in the Pacific Rim region and you are tuned to the PAS 2 or IS 2 satellite you are NOT affected by this announcement.
DETAILS:
- NAME CHANGE: Since 2002 Hope Channel has been using the Pan American Satellite number 7 known as PAS 7. The Pan American Satellite company was sold to Intelsat and all satellites are now named Intelsat. Therefore PAS 7 is now known as IS 7. PAS 10 is now known as IS 10.
- REASON FOR THE CHANGE: Since 2002 Hope Channel has used the IS 7 C band satellite service. Starting officially January 1, 2008 we will be using the IS 10 C band satellite service. The reason for the change is that the IS 7 satellite is getting old and will soon be taken out of service. We are changing to IS 10 because IS 10 is in the same location as IS 7 and making this change will make the least amount of disruption for you the viewer.
- TIME PERIOD OF TRANSITION: To make the transition from IS 7 to IS 10 least disruptive, we have a one month period when BOTH satellites (IS 7 and IS 10) will be carrying Hope Channel. This announcement is on the web; we are sending emails to everyone we have contact information for; an announcement will be on the TV and we ask viewers to share this information with other viewers of Hope Channel. We apologize if this change creates any disturbance for you. We value our viewers and thank you for your loyalty and support of Hope Channel.
- HOW TO MAKE THE CHANGE? If you live in the affected area you need to change the reception parameters in your receiver.
The new parameters are:
Downlink Frequency: 4069.50 MHz
Polarization: Vertical
Symbol Rate: 3.003 Msps
FEC: 2/3
Follow these steps:
Print out these instructions for your Technicians
NOTE: You will not be able to make the required changes without a remote control!
